Gestalt Therapy

Are you at a pivotal moment where your old ways of coping just don't seem to be working anymore? Are you struggling with a lack of meaning, or a feeling that you need to grow but you don't know how? Are you going through a major life transition that is shifting the way you view yourself and the world? My clients are curious about their experience, and looking for an ally to help them find their capacity for change. They are wanting to become more of themselves and create a more authentic life.

Gestalt is an experiential, relational, and existential therapy that begins with the premise that change only happens when we accept ourselves exactly as we are in the here-and-now. Gestalt invites us to become present with what is, and to learn to make rich and meaningful contact with ourselves and with our environment. Ultimately, Gestalt is aimed at supporting your awareness and increasing your sense of choice so you can create the life that is most meaningful, unique and fulfilling to you.

Clients often experience a Gestalt therapy session as dynamic, incorporating both dialogue and "experiments," or experiential work that supports you to feel your body, develop awareness of fixed patterns, try new behaviors, and/or make contact with your needs, wants, and interests. I chose Gestalt to be the foundation of my work with individuals and groups because it is a non-pathologizing approach that emphasizes the inherent resilience and intelligence of each human being. I have personally benefitted from being a Gestalt therapy client and group participant over the course of many years.

I have trained extensively in Gestalt therapy since 2016, at the California Institute of Integral Studies, with Gestalt Associates Training Seattle (GATSEA), Gestalt Therapy Training Center Northwest (GTTCNW), and with other independent trainers and therapists.
